Participation in Take Note Troupe requires an annual (with our season) family registration. The non-refundable fee is $50, and must be paid before you can enroll in Play Theory classes or productions. Once you have paid your registration for the year, your profile will automatically allow you to enroll in classes or productions as desired.

SUMMER CAMP: IMPROV FUN
Whether you are a beginner to improv or someone who just knows how much fun improv can be, you’ll love this camp that incorporates PLAY THEORY with tons of improvising games. Improv is not only fun– it’s actually a wonderful application for PLAY THEORY Happiness Skills and will help with all aspects of your life even when the fun and games of camp are over! The PLAY THEORY skills learned and developed in our improv classes give kids social emotional tools and build resilience! Since improv is different every time, you can sign up for improv camps again and again all summer and learn something new with each! Designed for ages 11-18yrs old.
SUMMER CAMP: DIGITAL CREATORS
This camp for teens combines digital design, video creation, and content creation into an immersive experience. Participants will learn graphic design basics, video editing, and social media storytelling, using professional tools in a supportive setting. It focuses on fostering creativity, digital literacy, and responsible content creation, equipping teens with the skills to become the next generation of digital creators. Designed for ages 13-18 yrs old.
CEDAR CITY INTENSIVE for HIGH SCHOOL
Must be 9th-12th grade in the 2024-2025 school year.
This is a merit based opportunity. Participants must attend a prerequisite workshop and additional coaching sessions happening in August and September.
A 9 hour summer intensive and August and September coaching sessions that are required for anyone applying to the Cedar City competition. Focus on characterization, vocal, breathwork, and more. This intensive is a prerequisite and anyone who is going to Cedar City MUST attend one full intensive- one week out of the two available. SUMMER CAMP: SHAKESPEARE- A COMEDY of ERRORS
Did you love the slapstick, the dancing, the drama of Comedy of Errors? Come learn some scenes and practice your best 1930s comedy routines a la Shakespeare with us. Of course there will be a healthy dose of PLAY THEORY Happiness Skills mixed in. You’ll have a blast! Designed for ages 11-18 yrs old.
SUMMER CAMP: THEATER TECH
Do you like to be behind the scenes more than on the stage? You can practice PLAY THEORY without ever performing! Come learn all about how to use our sound boards, lights and more at this camp especially for people who love tech! Attending this camp will get you ready for being a tech at one of our shows! Designed for ages 11-18 yrs old.
SUMMER CAMP: PLAY THEORY PERFORMANCE
Come learn PLAY THEORY skills and apply them in a performance setting! We’ll be learning and preparing to perform a few songs for parents on the last day, all while practicing Be Present, Let Go and Play, Accept and Build, and Look Outward! Build social emotional intelligence while having fun and developing talents! It’s all here for you at this performance camp! Designed for ages 8-14 yrs old.
SUMMER CAMP: SEWING AND COSTUME DESIGN
Learn how to upcycle old and thrifted clothing into costume items and other wonders in this fun hands on sewing class. Use PLAY THEORY to design and create fun costume pieces that help tell a story. All skills welcome. Please bring a sewing machine. Designed for ages 11-18 yrs old.
SUMMER CAMP: ADVANCED IMPROV- LONG FORM
Are you already an experienced improviser who is ready to take things to the next level? Come study long form improv, where we delve deeper into character development, plotline, and more. This camp is appropriate for people who have lots of improv experience (multiple previous improv classes). We’ll do some hard work to collaborate and really up our improv game! Designed for ages 14-18 yrs old.
SUMMER CAMP: PLAY THEORY FOR ACTORS
This class will fully incorporate PLAY THEORY while helping each actor build both their skills and confidence. The goal is for those involved to leave the class feeling more confident and comfortable being themselves as well as being actors on the stage! There will be a focus on connecting with scene partners, combating stage fright, how to prepare for your role, physicality, and breaking down a scene or monologue. This class is led by a TNT alumna who is an acting major in college and is excited about helping teens grow in their acting! Designed for ages 12-18 yrs old.

This camp will help teach many of the basic choreography steps used in musical theater productions. You’ll perform a piece at the end for your families! Let’s get ready for the Olympics, improv style! Designed for ages 11-18 yrs, join the fun as we play tons of improv games and team up to challenge other improvisers in this Comedy Sports Camp. Whether you have been playing in improv comedy for years or are new to the scene, this camp will be tons of fun while allowing you to polish your Happiness Skills of PLAY THEORY that build resilience and social emotional intelligence. Designed for ages 11-18 yrs old.

Do you make up silly songs and parodies? Find yourself bursting out into song for no particular reason? Or do you just love improv in all its forms? A fun and practical way to practice PLAY THEORY. Help your kids learn practical skills and communication skills to bless them in the real world. Based on Brooke Romney’s books Modern Manners for Kids, we’ll talk about some great friendship skills that go hand in hand with PLAY THEORY’s Happiness Skills. Lots of games and role play will make this learning fun!
PLAY THEORY IN ACTING FOR KIDS – Winter
Come learn to focus on and improve your acting skills as we apply the principles of PLAY THEORY. Whether you take this as a stand alone class or use it to get better prepared for one of our productions, this class will help you with character development, objectives, awareness of blocking patterns, and more.
PLAY THEORY FOUNDATIONS – Winter
PLAY THEORY is a positive paradigm, or mindset, consisting of four principles, learned through play. Youth love engaging in these validating, fun activities that cultivate trust, generosity and enthusiasm. Application of PLAY THEORY leads to the creative collaboration that is life, on stage or off. This mindset is essential for later TNT performance. This class fulfills the Play Theory prerequisite for eligibility to participate in TNT performances.
PLAY THEORY IN PERFORMANCE – STUDIO THEATER – Winter
Willy Wonka Jr. — A wonderful introduction to an on-stage experience! All participants learn musical numbers to perform while also receiving PLAY THEORY instruction and learning basic theater skills. Participants are HIGHLY encouraged to take Foundations in Play Theory or another PT class concurrently. Those new to TNT are required to take an additional Play Theory class in order to participate.
PLAY THEORY PLAYGROUND FOR KIDS – Winter
Come expand your PLAY THEORY games with fun new games. This entire class is play focused and will be interactive and physically active! Make new friends, learn new games, and have some fun!

PLAY THEORY IN IMPROV – Spring
Just as in life, in improv there are no rehearsals or scripts. PLAY THEORY provides a way to successfully navigate whatever comes your way, on stage or off. The 4 PLAY THEORY principles build capability, effective communication skills, leadership attributes and facilitates creative collaboration in improvised scenes. Individuals who view the world through this paradigm gain confidence, recognize the potential in self and others and understand that happiness is a skill not a circumstance. This class fulfills the Play Theory prerequisite for eligibility to participate in TNT performances. This course can be repeated as many times as desired; skills build as experience accumulates. It is a prerequisite for OTS or Advanced Improv sessions.

Participants will have a Chance to explore movement, learn about the breath and develop sustained, focused attention as we dig deeper into the rich PLAY THEORY Principles. Class participants will need to wear comfortable, modest clothing that they can move in and bring a mat. Instructor will reach out to you individually before classes begin for a private intake interview.

Get to know some of the beloved scenes and characters from William Shakespeare’s plays. You’ll dive deeper into how his stories still apply to us today and learn and practice scenes from TNT’s staging of Shakespeare.

PLAY THEORY is a powerful mindset and paradigm that gives children and youth needed tools to combat anxiety, depression, loneliness, and other emotions that so many battle. This class will use games and discussion to help kids thoughtfully apply PLAY THEORY principles to their real life problems in practical ways. Everyone needs a Happiness Practice, and this class is purely focused on strengthening youth who are willing to try something that could change their lives for the better!

From diction to singing to character voices to podcasting, there is so much you can learn to do with your voice! Come practice PLAY THEORY while you learn to develop greater vocal presence!
ON THE SPOT IMPROV (Audition Only) – Winter
On the Spot is TNT’s elite improv performance group assigned by audition. PLAY THEORY prerequisites are required unless waived by an OTS coach. This is a high commitment group and parental involvement may be required to help facilitate shows. Register only if you have already been cast on the team.
SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK (Audition Only) – Winter
This is our 21st year of sharing Shakespeare with the community! This is an incredible service opportunity. In 2024, we will be preparing and presenting A Comedy of Errors. While being a highlight for families and participants, this commitment is demanding on schedules with late night tech rehearsals and culminating in multiple performances in community parks and school field trips in late May and early June. Placement is by audition. PLAY THEORY prerequisite is required for participation as well as concurrent enrollment in a PT class or current or past coaching of a PT class. *We will be allowing freshmen with PT experience to audition this year.

Instructor will reach out to you individually before classes begin for a private intake interview. For ages 18+.
