Shakespeare in the Park

TNT Presents our 15th Year of Shakespeare in the Park:

The Tempest, coming May 25th - June 9th, 2018

Take Note Troupe has been bringing free Shakespeare in the Park productions to the community since 2003. We are committed to making The Bard accessible, engaging, and relevant. How does TNT continue to dish up a fresh interpretation of literature that’s been around for over 400 years? TNT has a magic formula you can read about here.

The more you know, the more there is to love about the Bard--and TNT knows their Bard.  Besides competing many times in the Utah Shakespeare Festival’s National High School competition, we’ve also adapted 6 of his plays and written an original play about his relativity to contemporary high school students called Passing the Bard (coming January 19-27th, 2018).

We’ve performed for thousands of Shakespeare enthusiasts and garnered some serious awards.  It’s always delightful to hear generous comments from either surprised first time attendees or the loyal fans who have come for years to enjoy the show.

Shakespeare in the Park was supported by a Union Pacific Community-Based Grant in 2016 and 2017. We are very grateful for their generous grant to help us bring high quality, family friendly arts to the community.

SPRING Semester 2018 * Limited enrollment by audition and application for ages 15-18 (high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Freshmen are encouraged to sign up for our Shakespeare Intensive class, which will best prepare them for future participation in Shakespeare in the Park, though it does not guarantee placement in a future show.)

COST $350 ensemble, $400 principals  Due upon casting

All interested participants are required to submit an essay describing why they want to be selected to participate in the production and how PLAY THEORY has impacted them. Essays are due prior to Auditions. Please email your essay to

There will be an orientation Jan 25, 2018 7:00-9:00. Parents should plan to attend. We’ll play some PT games and review the production calendar and answer questions about the audition process and performance schedule. Most of our Shakespeare in the Park performances are free in the park and do not require a ticket, however we welcome donations, as these productions are quite expensive to bring to the public. You should plan to arrive early and bring along low-backed chairs or a picnic blanket and  a jacket, as the evenings can be cool after dark.

Our opening night, May 25th, 2018, will be a benefit performance at the Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center (State Theater). Tickets will be sold through their website and proceeds will benefit the theater's restoration. We have teamed up for many years with the folks at APPAC and support their efforts to keep the arts alive in our community. As soon as tickets are available, we will provide a link here.
