Intent to audition form here.
Plan on one Saturday rehearsal each month (Feb-April) and two in May. Small sets will work with directors before the whole cast weekly- those rehearsals will be as called, mainly for leads and featured dancers.
As a mainstage production, we typically require previous Play Theory experience in order to audition. However, as we are seeking to expand this cast, we are making an exception for those who attend a Play Theory Intensive Training on Friday, January 23rd from 6:00pm-8:30pm. If you are new to the program or have not participated in Fall of 2025, you must attend this workshop in order to audition. The cost is $10 at the door via cash or venmo. All cast members are required to be enrolled in or coach a Play Theory class during Winter semester. Please email [email protected] if you have questions about these requirements. Casting is not guaranteed, even with prerequisites.
Prior to audition, please submit an essay of 500-700 words about The Taming of the Shrew and why you wish to participate. You may email it to [email protected] and [email protected]. Additionally, you should listen to at least one episode of The Happiness Playbook and leave a review there, or on TNT’s Google account.
While being a highlight for families and participants, this commitment is demanding on schedules with late night tech rehearsals and culminating in 8-10 performances in community parks in late May and early June. Placement is by audition.
Note- this cast requires commitment. Each time you miss a rehearsal it impacts the entire cast. If you audition, the rehearsals need to be a high priority. Parents should anticipate volunteering in a variety of ways during tech week and performances and must make themselves available.
Performances anticipated, but are subject to change: May 28, 29, 30; June 4-6 and 10-13. Tech rehearsals: two or three days during the week of May 18 plus May 26 and 27.
Thanks to the Arts in the California Parks Implementation Grant, tuition will be subsidised as follows. All participants will receive a half tuition scholarship, making the upfront price $200. Additionally, participants who fulfill their commitments of attending rehearsals, memorizing on time, and who fulfill volunteer responsibilities, will receive at $200 tuition credit towards future participation in a TNT summer camp 2026 (credits will be issued after the completion of Shakespeare in the Park.) As always, those who wish to participate but have a financial hardship may apply for a scholarship by emailing [email protected] and explaining their situation and need.
