Registration
Participation in Take Note Troupe requires an annual (with our season) family registration. The registration fee is not required for summer camps. For the 2024-2025 season, the non-refundable registration fee will be reduced to $25.00. The fee must be paid before you can enroll in Play Theory classes or productions. Once you have paid your registration for the year, your profile will automatically allow you to enroll in classes or productions as desired.

Play Theory Classes for Elementary School
WINTER PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE-
PLAY THEORY in RHYTHM- Winter
Rhythm can be found in all sorts of unexpected places. One of those places is in our own bodies. We have discussed with science and have confirmed that everyone living should have a heartbeat. Further than that we all have internal clocks that can determine the behavioral outcomes of our day. In this Play Theory class we will explore Rhythm with musical instruments, patterns, classical music, and lots of Play Theory games. As a result participants will become more aware of their physical bodies and their emotions.
PLAY THEORY in PERFORMANCE- SPRING MUSICAL – LION KING JR – GAMES WITH LION KING CUBS- Winter
A wonderful introduction to an on-stage experience! All participants learn musical numbers to perform while also receiving PLAY THEORY instruction and learning basic theater skills. Attendance at rehearsals is critical- if you will need to miss more than one, please email us before enrolling. Tech week rehearsals are mandatory.

SPRING PROGRAMMING
PLAY THEORY IMPROV FOUNDATIONS- Spring
Just as in life, in improv there are no rehearsals or scripts. PLAY THEORY provides a way to successfully navigate whatever comes your way, on stage or off. The 4 PLAY THEORY principles build capability, effective communication skills, leadership attributes and facilitate creative collaboration in improvised scenes. Individuals who view the world through this paradigm gain confidence, recognize the potential in self and others and understand that happiness is a skill not a circumstance. This class fulfills the Play Theory prerequisite for eligibility to participate in TNT performances. This course can be repeated as many times as desired; skills build as experience accumulates.

TNT is pleased to present PLAY THEORY choirs under the direction of Sarah Blair. Sarah studied music at Berklee College of Music in Boston and received a BA in music from Brigham Young University with an emphasis in jazz. She performed in the BYU Jazz Choir and Jazz Ensemble. She has led children and youth choirs for over ten years. Come harmonize together and make beautiful music to share with audiences! These choirs will have a ticketed performance at the end of the semester, plus one or two service performances at local nursing homes.

Do you want to be a part of Take Note Troupe and practice Play Theory without ever being an actor? Theatre is a team sport and the behind the scenes people are a valuable part of that team! Join us as we apply Play Theory through set building and learning how to run the lighting and sound for our shows! You’ll have a chance to help build the set for Lion King Jr. and possibly to assist in other ways.
PLAY THEORY in SEWING/COSTUME DESIGN- Winter
Sewing and design are a great application for the Play Theory principles! Learn to repurpose a thrift store item into a costume piece. Bring a sewing machine if you have one!

PLAY THEORY AND CONNECTION- Spring
Grown ups are funny creatures. With all their quirks, mannerisms, likes, and dislikes, it can be daunting for teens and new young adults to navigate the adult world, to make new friends and connections.
In this class and through the lens of Play Theory, we will explore the tiny details that make or break social interactions and observe them in our daily lives. Be it with the grocery bagger, the neighbor on the bus, or the friend of a friend at a party, there is so much joy to be found in connecting with new people.

Use Play Theory and learn important life skills including how to handle car troubles or a car accident, how to send an email or text to an adult you don’t know, job interviews, getting along with roommates, navigating college classes, basic money management, and so much more. We’ll also be incorporating the wisdom of Brooke Romney’s books Modern Manners for Today’s Teens. Come get the downlow on how to thrive at adulting when your time comes!

PLAY THEORY in AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION FOR IMPROV (INTERMEDIATE)- Winter
If you have already participated in an Improv course before and would like to advance your improv skills, consider taking this intermediate class. In this improv class we will explore how to work with an audience. Participants will learn how to improve the audience experience and do so with energy. Though improv is mostly done on the fly, participants will learn how proper planning can encourage excellent showmanship. DISCLAIMER: The unintended consequence of this class will be development of soft skills. WIN WIN! Prerequisite required.

PLAY THEORY in MUSICAL IMPROV (INTERMEDIATE)- Winter
If you have already participated in an Improv course before and would like to advance your improv skills, consider taking this intermediate class. You do not need to be good at singing to participate in Musical Improv. This rhythmic style of improv is incredibly fun and will help expand your musical ability. Participants will know what it really means to look outward and they practice riffing off other improvisers.
SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK (Audition Only)- Winter/Spring
Our 22nd year of Shakespeare in the Park we will present the comedy Much Ado About Nothing! This is an incredible service opportunity. While being a highlight for families and participants, this commitment is demanding on schedules with late night tech rehearsals and culminating in multiple performances in community parks and school field trips in late May and early June. Placement is by audition. Play Theory prerequisite is required for participation as well as concurrent enrollment in a PT class or current or past coaching of a PT class. Note- this cast requires commitment. Each time you miss a rehearsal it impacts the entire cast. If you audition, the rehearsals need to be a high priority. Additionally, Shakespeare participants are required to help with TNT’s Big Day of Giving Fundraiser, help find sponsors for the show, and assist with the distribution of handbills and posters.

ON THE SPOT IMPROV (Audition Only) – Winter
On the Spot is TNT’s elite improv performance group assigned by audition. PLAY THEORY prerequisites are required unless waived by an OTS coach. This is a high commitment group and parental involvement may be required to help facilitate shows. Register only if you have already been cast on the team.
THE HAPPINESS CLUB
Introducing Take Note Troupe’s new servant leadership club that is more fun than any club you’ve joined before! This year round servant leadership club run by the youth and overseen by the program director will provide internal & external service by looking outward. The club will plan and execute fun Friday night events called Play Theory Playground, on Friday nights when there are no events. The Club will meet to discuss responsibilities and then have exclusive access to the building for their own fun events.

Over the course of the camp, you’ll prepare to perform songs for your family on the last day, all while building your social-emotional intelligence and developing your unique talents. In this camp, we’ll dive into the world of live tech, exploring everything from fog machines to projection mapping and mic placement. All of this will be seen through a PLAY THEORY paradigm, where you’ll learn how to be a team player. DANCE: THEATRE IN MOTION- Summer Camp
Love to dance? Or maybe you adore musical theater but need a little help with the choreography? This camp is perfect for you! Let’s practice our PLAY THEORY skills and dance! You’ll learn choreography steps from favorite musical theater productions, all while building confidence and having a blast. At the end of the camp, you’ll showcase your moves in a performance for your family! STAGE COMBAT- Summer Camp
Join us for an action-packed Stage Combat Camp! Learn safe, choreographed fight scenes including hand-to-hand combat, sword fighting, and dramatized battle moves. Through PLAY THEORY, you’ll build confidence, develop physical storytelling skills, and collaborate with others to create thrilling performances. By the end, you’ll have the skills to perform a stage combat routine for your family. Don’t miss this chance to learn and have fun! For ages 13-18.
MUSICAL IMPROV- Summer Camp
Do you love making up silly songs, parodies, or bursting into song at random moments? Or maybe you’re just a fan of improv in all its forms? Then this camp is for you! Join us for high-energy and creative play as we sing our way through improv games and scenes. It’s going to be more fun than a barrel of singing monkeys! And along the way, we’ll be practicing PLAY THEORY Happiness Skills, boosting your creativity and confidence. At the end of the camp, you’ll showcase your skills in a performance for your family! For ages 14-18.
DEVISED THEATRE- Summer Camp
Where improvisation meets scripted theatre, this collaborative theatre opens the doors to diverse character types and creative script writing. In this one-of-a-kind camp, you’ll team up with other young performers to learn the art of ensemble through creating symbolic, impactful, or representative scenes. From wild comedy to powerful drama, anything goes! No script? No problem. We’ll write it together!
At the end of the camp, you’ll showcase your learning in a workshop and short performance for your family! For ages 14-18.
