Breaking News: Updates to Fall Classes
Take Note Troupe Board of Directors
Heraclitus said it, and we are witnessing it! This season hasn’t begun yet and has already gone through several changes!
We have had to pivot several times and each time we have asked you to pivot with us. Thank you for understanding that some things have been out of our control and that the creative process is fluid and organic. The good news? It’s still July, so we aren’t past the point of no return.
Changes to Oliver! for High School Performing Arts
So, here is our updated offering. In view of the staging needs of Oliver!, only a limited number of high school students will be cast in that show. The director will be LaRee Florence with Michael Anderson as assistant director (let’s hear it for alumni!) and we will be performing at Take Note Troupe’s stage in Roseville Nov.10th-18th. This will be a semi-professional experience for the high school students and alumni who are cast- they will be expected to learn their parts early on in the production and come each week prepared to rehearse (which will be on FRIDAYS from 4:15pm-6pm) and to mentor the younger participants in the cast. It will be an awesome opportunity for them to gain and practice valuable skills of looking outward and serving the youth in the cast. Those cast in this show (high school age) will not have a tuition fee, only a $100 costuming fee. The requirement to take an additional Play Theory class with TNT will still hold.
New Opportunity for High School Students: A Dickens of A Christmas
Our Thursday night high school students will prepare A Dickens of A Christmas! You may wonder if we recently did this show. The answer is both YES and NO. This show will be an original Take Note Troupe production with a new script but similar format to our 2021 A Dickens of A Christmas production. All who enroll will be cast in this show, which will perform December 8th, 9th, and 11th at Take Note Troupe’s stage. The younger participants (elementary school acting class, elementary school musical theater class, junior high acting class, junior high musical theater class) in this show will be rehearsing on Monday afternoons as previously planned. This production will be a wonderful opportunity to learn, practice, and hone Play Theory skills while preparing and performing a gift for the community. This production will be directed by Michael Anderson with LaRee Florence as artistic director.
An Opportunity to Accept and Build
We understand that there may be some disappointment about all the changes we have needed to make for Oliver!, but hope that all will be able to see this an an opportunity to Accept and Build. Our goals, as always, are youth development and serving the community, and the board feels that, given our circumstances, these changes will deliver on both of these objectives.
Registration is open now for all of our fall classes and general registration for Oliver! (or intent to audition for high school students) opens August 1st.
