Utah Shakespeare Festival Competition Winner – Take Note Troupe
Take Note Troupe Competes at the Utah Shakespeare Festival
After an absence of over ten years, Take Note Troupe returned to Cedar City to the Utah Shakespeare Festival’s competition for high school students. On October 4th and 5th, Take Note Troupe competed against fourteen other performing arts schools and groups from around the nation in the Essex division. Take Note Troupe competed in Acting Ensemble Scene, Acting Monologues, Acting Duo/Trio Scenes, and also in a Dance performance.
Criteria Used by Judges at Utah Shakespeare Competition
All acting performances were judged by three different adjudicators. The criteria used by adjudicators to judge teams were: voice (diction and projection), body (physicalization, blocking, and movement), character (objectives/motivation, tactics/actions, presence, and communication), and text (language, understanding, rhythm, and tempo).
TNT Winners of Acting Awards at Shakespeare Festival
Take Note Troupe won second place award for its Acting Ensemble Scene and second place for its Dance performance. TNT also won second place Sweepstakes, the overall most points for monologues, duo/trio scenes, and ensemble scene.
Additionally, TNT was invited to perform its dance number at the showcase although they had to decline to perform because it was when they were seeing the professional production of Much Ado About Nothing at the festival. Congratulations to all of our Shakespeare team whose excellence in Play Theory and hard work made us so proud!
