High School Reader’s Theater – Legend of Sleepy Hollow

TNT has created a Readers Theater format workshop on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  Readers Theater will be an opportunity to dive deep into character development, diction, pronounciation and participant interaction without the extra pieces of music, choreography and costumes that are usually part of performances.

Principles of Play Theory are incorporated as we explore this new method of performance.

The final product will be recorded and shared with nursing homes and local schools as well as on YouTube. COVID can’t stop TNT from serving and from sharing family-friendly theater with those who need it most!

Class sizes will be limited to 15 in order to accommodate health directives.  We will begin with a virtual format due to the restrictions of meeting in person.  As government directives change, we may be able to meet in person (fingers crossed)

Classes will be held September 10, 17, 24, October 1 & 8

7:00-9:00pm

High School Reader’s Theater – Edgar Allan Poe

TNT has created a Readers Theater format workshop centered around Edgar Allan Poe to celebrate this author and to get in the mood for the Halloween season.  Readers Theater will be an opportunity to dive deep into timing, projection, character development, diction, pronounciation, participant interaction and other acting techniques without the extra pieces of music, blocking and choreography  that are usually part of performances.

We are saying YES AND to trying a new format and believe this will give  our acting skills a boost as we exercise new theatrical muscles!

The final product will be recorded and shared with nursing homes and local schools as well as on YouTube. COVID can’t stop TNT from serving and from sharing family-friendly theater with those who need it most!

The phrase “Yes, And” has its roots in improvisation and has become widely known within popular culture.  So what’s all the fuss about?  Let’s find out!  Let’s take a deep dive into the process and philosophy of “Yes, And” to see how it helps strengthen our capacity to collaborate, let go of control, be accepting and generous, see the bigger picture, and trust in the obvious.  We’ll use “Yes, And” to link up our group creativity with games, stories, and scenes.

These workshops are independent in content.  Participants can enroll in one, two or all of the workshops that will be offered.

All improvised scenes begin with a completely blank slate, and the prospect of creating something from virtually nothing can be intimidating.  This course will examine basic improv habits that assist our scenes in having solid foundations of information.  The clearer our understanding of the world of the scene, the more opportunity we get to actually play around in that world.  And the playing is where the fun is!

These workshops are independent in content.  Participants can enroll in one, two or all of the workshops that will be offered.

High School Improv Workshop #3 – Bringing Life and Heart to Improv Scenework

We want our audiences to enjoy our improv scenes.  But what makes a scene enjoyable?  Does it have to be funny?  Unique?  Bizarre?  These are all tall orders, since trying to be funny or unique or bizarre often backfires.  Let’s approach scenework from a more human angle, with a special emphasis on characters, relationships, and emotions.  We’re already experts in being human, so let’s use that talent.  And who knows…we might find that simply playing a human could be funny!

These workshops are independent in content.  Participants can enroll in one, two or all of the workshops that will be offered.
