Take Note Troupe (TNT) is staging William Shakespeare's Tempest, considered by some to be his most autobiographical work. There are obvious similarities between Shakespeare and Prospera, the main character, who uses the power found in her magic books to control and direct the actions of the other inhabitants on the isle in this tale of tragedy and transformation. There are tempests, island sprites, shipwrecked sailors, a prince and even a monster in a plot that involves, treachery, redemption and forgiveness. TNT's fresh interpretation brings a condensed, refreshing staging that emphasizes ensemble work while preserving the language as Shakespeare wrote it.
TNT performs family friendly public shows each year in local parks and provides a condensed staging of the play perfect for school assemblies. This interactive presentation invites students on stage to step into scenes from the play and is the perfect introduction and invitation to experience a full staging of Shakespeare's final masterpiece, The Tempest.
TNT is partnering with Auburn Placer Arts Council for an annual fundraiser benefiting the Auburn State Theater on May 26th at 4pm and 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased for $10 at: http://livefromauburn.com/tickets.htm

Take Note Troupe is a community-based, volunteer, award-winning youth theater group that specializes in Shakespeare and Improv Training. We find these seemingly unrelated focuses dovetail well to promote positive life skills through productions and workshop experiences. Our productions promote greater understanding of Shakespeare's works and insights for young and old. TNT strives to improve our society one performance and one workshop at a time.
Whether you already appreciate poetry or you could care less, this play has something to offer. Creative presentations lift each poem off the printed page and into audiences' hearts. More than just a recital however, this play loosely knits together a wide variety of poetic form with a plot involving Ralphie, a student whose lack of poetic understanding is matched only by his lack of enthusiasm for the subject. The story is definitely life changing for our hero, and life enhancing for our audiences. And who couldn’t use a little more of that? As always, family friendly fun- appropriate for all ages!
Among the works presented are traditional haiku and limericks, poems by Shel Silverstein, Emily Dickinson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Robert Frost's "The Road Less Traveled", John McCrae's "In Flanders Field" and even the bard himself.
